In order to more readily meet student needs, Indian Capital Technology Center offers a variety of classroom hours and instructional formats for the Practical Nursing Program.
·
Lock Step -
Muskogee-Sallisaw-Tahlequah
This traditional format is offered at Muskogee, Sallisaw, and Tahlequah
campuses. Classroom hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00
p.m. Class and clinical hours may vary and the potential exists for some
limited learning opportunities that can only be offered on the evening or
during the weekend. In such cases, students are given as much advanced notice
as possible. The program is approximately 11 months in length. Classes begin
the last week of July and complete in June of each academic year.
The instructional format of the Lock-Step program is classroom lecture with
hands-on/interactive activities, laboratory and clinical activities. Clinical
experiences may be offered up to three or more days per week.
·
Flexible Option - Stilwell
The flexible option format is offered at the Stilwell
campus. The classroom is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. –
3:00 p.m. Clinical hours are primarily during daytime hours. The program is approximately
16 months in length.
The instructional format of the Flexible Option programs allows students to
complete some components of the course independently, resulting in some limited
flexibility in scheduling. Students must attend school a minimum of 22
hours per week, but may attend more hours as needed. Students are
contracted for the amount of curriculum to be completed each month. Required clinical
days are routinely scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Additional scheduled classroom sessions
are also required. Most students
find the pace and demands of the program increase as they progress through the
curriculum. Additional course work and curriculum progression will be
required on the student's own time.
*Scheduling and instructional format for each campus are subject to change
without notification.
· Nursing Transition - Muskogee - Tahlequah
The Nursing Transition course is offered at the Muskogee and Tahlequah
campuses. This option is available only to high school seniors who have
successfully completed one year of Health Science Technology at Indian Capital
as high school juniors. Applicants
for the transition program must meet all entrance requirements, and be on track
to graduate the end of the senior year. This program offers the
opportunity to complete a portion of the practical nursing curriculum during
the senior year, and complete the remaining portion of the curriculum by the
end of December following high school graduation.
