ICTC Advisory Committees |
Indian Capital Technology Center has
separate industry-based advisory committees for each of our
programs or clusters of closely related programs. The
purposes of an advisory committee is to help us document the
need for a program, and to ensure that the program has both
adequate resources and a well-designed curriculum to provide
students with the skills, knowledge, and conduct necessary
to successfully meet the needs of business and industry. Our
programs are industry-driven. The advisory committee is one
of the principle means of ensuring meaningful business and
industry participation in program creation and revision.
Functions of the Indian Capital Technology
Center advisory committees include: evaluating the goals and
objectives of the program curriculum; establishing workplace
competencies for the program occupation(s); suggesting
program revisions as needed; evaluating the adequacy of
existing facilities and equipment; advising instructor on
the selection and acquisition of new equipment and software;
identifying local business/industry leaders who will provide
students with external learning experiences, employment, and
placement opportunities; assisting in the professional
development of the faculty; assisting in promoting and
publicizing the program to the community and to business and
industry; and representing the needs of students from
special populations.
The district tries to keep abreast of the
latest trends and techniques in business and industry so our
students can be well prepared to enter the workforce.
Helping advise the district are concerned members of these
many professional job areas. Active, interested committee
members perform a valuable service to the community and the
district.
We always have a positive placement rate.
The other students either enter college or are employed in
an area unrelated to the program they were enrolled in. Many
of our students take advantage of college credit agreements.
They can receive college credit for attending Indian
Capital. Some take advantage of the Senior Scholarship and
attend Indian Capital after high school graduation. We are
very proud of our placement rate.
