Radiologic Technology

 

Program Overview

The Radiologic Technology program provides the student with the knowledge and skills in providing diagnostic information utilizing radiation as the principle means to visualize what is inside the human body. The technologist uses independent judgment in selecting radiation exposure factors, choosing film sizes, correctly positioning the patient, and providing radiation protection and appropriate patient care.

Radiography Program Goals

1.     Graduate students who possess the knowledge and skills of an entry-level radiologic technologist. Students will demonstrate and apply critical thinking skills.

2.     Graduates will be able to apply skills in communications, critical thinking and problem solving in the profession of radiologic technology.

3.     Graduates will develop and possess professional characteristics of radiologic technologists.

4.     Graduates of the program will help fulfill the community’s need for registered radiologic technologist.

 

 

Entrance Requirements

Must have verification of the following before acceptance:

·         18 years of age by the first day of class

·         Entrance Exam – NET/ HOBET

·         Complete an application

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         15 hours of approved college credit with a minimum grade of “C” , as follows (College Algebra, English Composition I, Select 9 hours from the following:  Arts and Humanities, Computer Information Science, Social/ Behavioral Sciences, Natural Sciences (Anatomy and Physiology recommended)

·         Background criminal and sex offender registry check

                                Application deadline, April 15th of each year.  Applications are available at all ICTC campuses and online at www.ictctech.com.

                                candidates are selected from admission to the program based on an Admission Ranking Scale.

Accreditation

    Indian Capital Technology Center is accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges.

 

    Indian Capital Technology Center is accredited by both the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma State Accrediting Agency. The school             operates under the supervision and in cooperation with the Oklahoma Board of Career and Technology Education. This program is accredited by the Joint         Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

Program Hours

    Classroom instruction and clinical practice are based on a 36- to 40-hour-per-week schedule.  Students are never scheduled for more than 40 hours per                week.  In general, clinic hours are   7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is an optional evening clinical rotation available in Clinic II. This rotation is limited to no more than two weeks.

Program Length

    The program's curriculum is based on two years of full-time study. A new class begins each   July.  The program of study includes approximately 1454     hours of classroom/lab and 1396 clinical hours, for a total of 2850 hours.

Tuition

    Approximately $3,000.00 In-District ($1.25 per clock hour); $6,000.00 ($2.50 per clock hour) Out-of-District

Additional Costs

    Approximately $400 (uniforms, scrubs, background checks, physical exam, and miscellaneous supplies, certification fees).

    Transportation to clinic sites

    Financial Aid is available

    Articulation –College Credit through Cooperative Alliance agreements, Indian Capital Technology Center’s Radiologic programs students are eligible to earn              college credit by successful program completion.  College credit is available at Connors State College.

 

Certification

    Graduates of this program will be qualified to sit for the certification exam given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Qualification is            the sole responsibility of ARRT and they alone determine eligibility.

    The Radiologic Technology Program admits applicants without regard to their race, color, national origin or ethnic origin, sex, age, religion, handicap, or                status as a veteran.

               The Radiology Technology Program at ICTC is accredited by the

Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
